There is a latent (and suppressed) need for reduced time to solution in computer models of environmental phenomena as model complexity has increased and regional scope has expanded to meet ever-increasing demands from legislative and policy requirements in support of legislation such as the Clean Air Act (http://www.epa.gov/oar/oaq_caa.html). It is in response to this requirement that HiCLAS1 is motivated to attack the causes of performance limitations in legacy code currently in use by modelers and regulatory personnel.

Our Mission

HiCLAS1 is dedicated to bringing High Performance Computing (HPC) capability to Environmental Modeling. The HiCLAS1 mission is to develop (or enhance) software and improve performance on current and future computers for legacy Air Quality Models (AQM).

new.gif (1804 bytes)AERMOD-HPCS Linux release announced

This is a High Performance Computing version of AERMOD that is significantly faster than the preferred model and may be used as an alternative model now available in both Windows and Linux releases from the downloads tab at left. For status on the HiCLAS1 Model Equivalence Demonstration (as required by Appendix W) click on the MEDlist tab at left. For workload throughput comparisons on Windows and Linux see below (larger value is better).

HiCLAS1 Task Manager (HCTM) announced

HCTM is a utility intended for use on multi-core systems as a parallel task-farming work scheduler with either serial or parallel threaded model code and works for any model that executes on you computer, including AERMOD with either preferred or alternative models.
