Use HCTM
to maximize multicore throughput for any model |
| What is the
throughput problem? |
You are the task manager
scheduling multiple tasks for your computer because you have a model
workload to complete within a deadline. The computer has multiple CPUs (each
with multiple cores), but you need help to maximize use of all cores
so that throughput is enhanced. |
| How to fix this
problem? |
Install the HiCLAS1 Task manager
(HCTM), load up your task queue, and let HCTM schedule tasks for as many
cores as you choose |
 | For more details visit
the
Benefits and Features page
and the FAQ link (at left). |
 | For downloads of HCTM
visit the downloads page. |
 | See below how utilization
of cores is maximized in an example that includes multiple executions of the
U.S. EPA's preferred model AERMOD (available in the hctmtestdata.zip file
included in the HCTM release). |
|
| Utilization results
for a two-user license of HCTM
where each user has allocated 2 threads to each of two separate task queues. The
figure shows CPU usage in the Performance tab view of Windows® Task
Manager. On the left hand side of each frame note how usage jumps to 100%
shortly after the second user starts HCTM. |
